Hanna was born Annette Weinstein on July 23, 1937, at Hôpital Rothschild, 5 Rue Santerre, Paris 75012 — a historic Jewish hospital founded by the Rothschild family. She left the hospital and came directly to live at 13 Rue Crespin du Gast.
From a few months old until she was 4, Hanna stayed at a daycare run by the Chondreau family in the village of Villeneuve-le-Roi. She stayed there all week, including weekends, rather than returning home each weekend. Her parents came to visit her from time to time.
Her parents: Samuel Bernard Weinstein ('Pépère') and Miriam Weinstein (née Strul), born May 28, 1904, in Bacau, Romania.
