After returning to Paris at the end of the war (December 1944), Hanna moved to the village of Joinville-le-Pont, at 7 Rue de l'Égalité. She lived there for at most two years. Afterwards, she returned with her father and stepmother to 13 Rue Crespin du Gast in Paris, where she had lived before.
While living at 13 Rue Crespin du Gast in Paris, Hanna attended École République (Filles), 100 Avenue de la République, Paris 75011. Around age 10 she moved to the Porte Dorée area, at 16 Boulevard Soult, and during that period she attended École Élémentaire Daumesnil, 253 ter Avenue Daumesnil, Paris 75012.
Her high school was Lycée Simone Weil, 7 Rue de Poitou, Paris 75003 — a memorial plaque on the wall commemorates Jewish girls who were deported. She studied there until age 17. At high school, she had a half-day once a week in which she could learn to fold laundry, cook, or play basketball.
She was active in the Ihud Habonim Zionist youth movement, in a branch that operated in the area of the Beaumarchais and Sébastopol streets in Paris. When she began attending the movement's activities, Hanna met Shosh Telmi and two other close friends — Colette and Henriette. There she learned Israeli folk dances and listened to songs by the Israeli singer Shoshana Damari. In the youth movement she felt a warm sense of being wanted in the Land of Israel, especially through learning about the kibbutz idea. Once, the movement held a summer camp in Montpellier for a week.
At age 18, immediately after finishing school, she went to work in paper cutting at a company that produced paper and cardboard models of clothing items such as coats and dresses. Her first workplace was at 37 Rue du Faubourg Poissonnière, Paris 75009.
